ishock also sponsored University of Iowa and their Mini Baja.. Here is the report back from one of their team members.
Thought I'd give you an update on the competition. First off, the shocks were awesome. We had zero time for testing and they were set up very well straight out of the box. In fact, the first time I had the car on dirt was the Maneuverability event and that run was good enough for 11th place of 120 cars. All we did was stiffen up the compression damping a bit. We also placed 8th in Suspension and Traction which is better than we have ever done in those types of events.
We had a killer car but struggled to finish it in time and were always a step behind. We worked on the car until 4am the night we left and then we drove 28 hours straight to Canada. We didn't pass tech inspections until the morning of the 3rd day so we barely had time to get through the dynamic events. We had some problems in the endurance race and eventually our CV shaft coupler broke so our overall finish was not worth a shit.
The cool thing is we know that we have a killer car. We were passing everybody on the track and we hadn't even driven the thing. With some tweaking and preparation that car could have taken home first place.
Thanks for your support this year!
